I had visited Pune after a long time. This was a very memorable visit. Some places could not be visited due to the short time. The aim is to present a short aide-memoir for people visiting Pune to help in planning their trip.Enjoy.

How to Reach Pune

Pune is connected by Air, Rail, Bus and roads very well and can be reached easily.

How to Travel inside Pune

Local bus services are the best mode of transportation in Pune.  Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML)  runs the buses within and in the suburbs of the city.
PMPML also runs two Pune darshan buses and these are the cheapest mode of tourism in Pune.

Next to buses, auto rickshaws are another very popular mode of local transportation. Transport owned by private companies are also very popular here. Radio taxis are also available 24 x 7.

Food.

Your visit to Pune will remain incomplete if you don't have a typical Maharashtrian meal. These are available in a wide range of hotels. Some of them are Hotel Atithi, Shabree, Abhiruchi, offer a simple thali of two vegetables, chapatis, bhakris, rice, curd, salad and loncha. The inexpensive, basic and wholesome nature of the food served in these restaurants will make you come back over and over again. 

Foods of all other varieties are available in Pune to your choice. One can enjoy the street food in MG Road and almost all the major areas in Pune.

Amongst the Sweet shops, my visit to Pune, is incomplete without visiting the original Chitale Bandhu shop in Laxmi Road and enjoy the fresh  Bhakarwadi out there. You can see that we visited this place.

Places to visit in and around Pune.

Pune is surrounded by some beautiful sighseeing destinations. Places like Matheran, Alibaugh, Panchgani, Lonavala, Khandala and Mahabaleshwar should invariably be visited.  
The Ashtvinayak Ganapati tour also starts from Pune and is a beautiful tour that can take about three days to complete. Bhimshankar one of the twelve Jyotirlingas can also be visited during this trip.
